Riptoberfest Week 4 Day 3!

Blogdate: 10/20

Workout: Cardio Party 1 + Turbo Sculpt

I had to break up my workouts today- I got up early and did Cardio Party 1, then when I got off work I came home and did Turbo Sculpt. It was just too daunting to have all that to do tonight with all that I am doing to get ready for our trip.

I used the gloves today up until the Turbo- but I had to take them off. Serious fatigue! Cardio Party 1 has that killer punching section that just does not give your upper body a break. Usually it is not a big deal, but with the gloves? Oh, man!

Three days to go!

10 Weeks Down!

Blogdate: 9/26

Workout: Cardio Party 1

The schedule said Cardio Party 1 + Turbo Sculpt, but due to poor planning I was lucky to get in Cardio Party 1! I'll try to slip in an extra Turbo Sculpt this week.

Technically, this is the completion of the 4 Week Tip You Up Rotation! Yay me! Now I need to figure out what to do for the last 4 weeks of my 14 week challenge. I could do Rip You Up again and add in the Ball Workouts, or I could rotate in some of my non-turbo DVDs. I was hoping my co-worker would let me borrow her copy of Insanity at this point- but I guess she's not done with it. (hey- that's good!)

Rip You Up Week 3: Workout 2!

Blogdate: 9/14

Workout: Punch, Kick & Jam + Booty Sculpt

I threw in the last 18 minutes of Cardio Party 1 at the end of PKJ instead of the endless capoeira.

My arms were sore today- I'm thinking it was from Yoga on Sunday! I must have worked some muscles that don't usually get so much attention.

My knees felt a little weak tonight- so I babied them somewhat. I've gotten pretty good at looking out for them by keeping weight off my heels in just about everything. I was able to identify some 'trouble moves' for my knees- any time the back leg twists and all the weight is on the front, my front knee was getting torqued. Keeping my weight off my heels in BOTH feet has alleviated this immensely. Also, on kicks and knees, I need to keep my supporting leg slightly bent. Not sure why- but it makes my knee happier. I'm thinking I also might need to replace my shoes- they seem to be losing some lateral support.

I am so looking forward to Turbo Fire. I hope that all this adequately prepares me for it! I have NO IDEA when I am going to be able to get it. Probably when money falls from the sky. We are spending a lot of money on this cruise for work (the bringing my DH part) and flying the whole family out to the coast for the wedding (and hitting Disneyland- things are getting exponentially more expensive). We are just not going to dip into savings 200$ bones for Turbo Fire, and we are old school as far as paying for things all at once goes. Man, I think I just may have to ask Santa for this. Lucky for me, I've been pretty damn good.

Rip You Up Week 3: Workout 1!

Blogdate: 9/13

Workout: Cardio Party 1

I know the schedule says something else, but I was so tired and full of food from my father-in-law's birthday the thought of working out for an hour was daunting. So I re-arranged things a little. But Cardio Party 1 felt great!

Oh yeah, the birthday party. My MIL makes this great pasta salad- of which I had 2 servings. And then I had cake. I didn't go over my weekly points allowance, but let's say there really is not much left. The rest of this week is going to run LEAN!

Hey! My weigh in was this morning! Drumroll..................... 160! Hooray! I am at a healthy BMI! 11 lbs in 8 weeks is pretty darn good!

Rip You Up Rotation Week 2: Day One!

Blogdate: 9/6

Workout: Cardio Party 1 + Ab Jam Floor

We met some friends at a burger joint called Lumpy's. Yikes. Really greasy, and not really good greasy, like Five Guys or In-N-Out. I only had half of a "Wimpy" burger and I just kind of felt sick afterwards. Not to mention that I went over like EIGHTEEN POINTS and it is DAY ONE. It is going to be a long week.

Happy Labor Day!

This One's For District 12!

Blogdate: 8/25

Workout: Cardio Party 1

Man, I was not looking forward to this workout. CP1 is tough because it is so much more repetitive that later workouts (PK&J and CP3).

As you can see, I took 2 days off (which means I need to double up a Turbo workout with Yoga). On Monday night I was tired and blue from a tough day at work. On Tuesday, Mockingjay had just come out and I couldn't tear myself away from it. Tonight, I am not allowed to have excuses. It is put up or shut up.

So I put on my party pants and went for it.

Wow, I forget just how great of a workout that is. At the end, instead of feeling beaten and exhausted you feel strong and refreshed!

My whole body is feeling stronger- especially my knees (and that makes me very very happy!). This is good in anticipation of Turbo Fire- I want to be able to give it all I've got!

...And the party favors are calories burned!

Workout: Cardio Party 1

This is still one of the toughest workouts even though it is considered Cardio Party 1! You really have to have stamina because so many of these 8 counts repeat, and repeat, and repeat- lots of "elbow-back kick, elbow-back kick" repeat a gajillion times.

I was really tempted to call today a rest day, but I am glad I didn't. I am going to try to line up m rest day with Sunday- we'll see if that works!

Mama Said Knock You Out

Blogdate: 7/27

Workout: Cardio Party 1

Last day of my no sweets challenge- after the first few days it really wasn't very difficult.

I really procrastinated working out tonight- I think it was after 10 before I finally pushed play. And then I had this weird dream that I was interviewing for a position with Lululemon and for some reason my dad insisted on coming along, sitting on the floor and playing Guild Wars. Is this a sign of over training?

Sweet Relief

Blogdate: 7/22

Workout: Cardio Party 1

I was too exhausted last night after work to exercise. It didn't help that I ate garbage. I did journal it, however, but I'm defeating the purpose and I need to stop this spiral. I am going to challenge myself not to have sweets this next week. I am a big proponent of Moderation in All Things, but I think I need something drastic to check myself.

Good workout tonight- I love Cardio Party 1. Of course, I have done this thing to death, but there are some things I do to relieve the tedium. (NOTE- the workout is a blast, but once you have done anything hundreds of times it is going to get tedious)

One technique I use is to rotate which wall of the room I am looking at. This is especially helpful on the 'Mama Said Knock You Out' section that is both long and strenuous. Each 32 count you shift to face a different wall.

I am also focusing on keeping my weight over my toes and not in my heels (in order to protect my knees).

My diet was MUCH better today. I was tempted a little by the sweets at work (I manage a bookstore) but nothing I couldn't handle. I went over by 7 points for the day, but compared to the 20+ I've been over the last few days I'll call that a success!

You don't drown by falling in the water, you drown by staying there.
