Riptoberfest Week 3 Day 4!

Workout: Turbo Sculpt + Ab Jam

Good workout today, really pushed myself in Turbo Sculpt. Ab Jam is Ab Jam. On Turbo Jam's Facebook page there is some discussion about Ab Jam being difficult to get through initially. I have been doing this for so long I cannot even remember that far back. I do remember the first couple of times trying to do Cardio Party being difficult. I remember having to take a couple of breaks to get through the whole thing.

There are some things I really love about Beachbody:

They are very realistic about what it takes to lose weight and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

They offer products for a wide range of conditioning- newbies to hard-core veterans.

They have good production values and the little timer at the bottom- awesome.

What I don't love so much:

Anytime someone starts pushing supplements I get suspicious. Things like 'slimming formula' just set off alarms in my head. They might even work- I don't know, but the whole realm of supplements is just so shady that I feel like it cheapens their image.

Shipping is outrageous (15-25$ and two weeks- even with "free express shipping"- are you kidding me?)

Riptoberfest Week 2 Day 5!

Workout: Cardio Party 2 + Ab Jam

Yesterday turned into a rest day when we got up very very early to catch the Mass Ascension at the Balloon Fiesta. I was going to work out at night but was so. damn. tired. Then I got crappy sleep all night and excuses, excuses, excuses... late night workout again. I've got to get up early tomorrow and get my rhythm back! I felt so good to have my workout over and done with for the day!

NSV last night- I tried on some size 8 shorts that I wanted to wear on my vacation and they fit- not tight or anything! Hooray!

60 Workouts Down!

Workout: Punch, Kick & Jam (w/ 20 Minute Workout) + Ab Jam

I tweaked my back big time during Ab Jam- I hope I'm not paying for that later!

Working out in the morning is challenging- and not just from a getting up at 5:30 standpoint. I don't have a full day's supply of energy to draw on, and my body isn't as warm and limber from moving around all day.

I also need to refuel better after an am workout so I am better prepared for the next day. I love my morning oatmeal with blueberries, but I need more protein post-workout.

It's only been about a week and a half, but it felt like I haven't done Ab Jam in forever!

I totally knocked out the tricep pushups tonight in 3T! It felt great! I've always struggled with them, but tonight it was like bam! Bam! Bam! And they came out of nowhere- it was like someone threw a switch or something.

Rip You Up Week 3: Workout 4!

It's been awhile since I've done Turbo Sculpt (relatively). It was nice to have it so fresh (relatively). Let's see- last I did it was workout 29!

I've really gotta thank my co-worker. I haven't seen her in a few weeks and she came in tonight and complimented me on how 'great I look' and asked me if I've been 'working out'. I said, "THANK YOU!" It is funny how something so seemingly small can make such a big difference in your day.

Well, whoever sent Mojo after yesterday's post- I gotta thank you, too! Because today I was back to my old, bony self again! Yeah! My knee is still complaining a little, but my motivation is back!

I am re-ordering my workouts so the resistance training ones alternate better with the cardio-centirc ones.

I was tempted to do yoga tonight because my quads are really sore, but I made cupcakes (stupid, stupid, stupid!) and needed the extra calorie burn.

Rip You Up Rotation Week 2: Day One!

We met some friends at a burger joint called Lumpy's. Yikes. Really greasy, and not really good greasy, like Five Guys or In-N-Out. I only had half of a "Wimpy" burger and I just kind of felt sick afterwards. Not to mention that I went over like EIGHTEEN POINTS and it is DAY ONE. It is going to be a long week.

Good-bye, August! I go to take tonight's picture holding the number "32" and I can't imagine holding #50, or #60, or #70- but that is where I'll be before this is through. I can't help but wonder how I'll look and feel once I get there.

I have decided to make Ab Jam my friend. This is, what, the 12th time I've done it in a little over 6 weeks? There is no use being tired of it- I'm going to have to do it about twice a week during the next 4! Might as well make it my buddy.

I did not want to work out tonight- but I did anyway. I feel really good about it.

I went to Khol's tonight and tried on some clothes I had an eye on- man, they vanity size the heck out of their Fila fitness wear! The tanks only fit in a small- the bigger sizes were saggy in the armholes and baggy everywhere else. Some cute styles, though. They remind me of Bebe Sport, which was really cute in an athletic way (when it wasn't covered with logos).

I was sorely tempted by this jacket- it reminds me of Lululemon's Define jacket:

Got My Party Pants On...

Workout: 3T + Ab Jam

I was doing really well on my whole 'No Soda' thing until about 2:00 when I started getting really cranky and then the headache kicked in and I caved around 4. I still had a splitting headache until about 8:30 when the Tylenol finally kicked in. I think I am going to have to wean myself off this stuff a little slower.

I was kinda suprised I got my workout in... I was pretty much in bed with a headache until it went away. Then it was like I had no control over my body- I put on my workout clothes and went into the garage, ahem, Gym, for my scheduled workout. Go me!

It is nagging at me though, only losing 5 pounds... I was looking at a chart from last fall and I was able to drop 5 pounds in two weeks with just counting points- not even exercising! Grrr. I know, the 'Check is in the mail' as it were, and I wouldn't trade the conditioning I've gained- that totally rocks. And it really isn't about the scale. Right? Right?!?!?!

18 Workouts Down!

Workout: Turbo Sculpt + Ab Jam

I am trying to use 8lb weights as much as possible during Turbo Sculpt, switching back to the 5lbs during all the shoulder/tricep work.

Eating-wise, yesterday was a challenge. We took a trip to the zoo this morning and had ice cream, but the real problem was when I got bored at work last night. My eating reflected this.

I have been reading a book about goal setting, and it talks about chunking your goals down into steps so simple you can't help but do them. Last night my goal was just to get dressed- to put my workout clothes on. Once I was dressed I knew I'd do my workout. Ah, me hacks.

Zen and the Art of Turbo

Workout: 3T and Ab Jam

I had a zen moment during 3T tonight that pretty well illustrates what Turbo means to me: I was looking at the floor during tricep kickbacks, watching my sweat drip off me onto the ground, when I noticed that my foot was tapping to the music. I was working so hard but still subconsciously enjoying myself.

I also have noticed over the last few days that I can feel my biceps and triceps more- like they are firmer muscles. Hey- things are changing!

Take the 9 O'Clock Tank to Happy Town

If I could just get a new tank in the mail everyday I would always look forward to my workout! That wouldn't be very expensive, would it? Behold my new Cool Racer Back in Angel Blue- the color is even prettier in person than in pictures! I love the color, the length- everything!

My diet is going great this week- I haven't used any WPA's and I have banked all my activity points. I am hoping I can talk DH into going out to dinner (even thought this month we have called a hiatus on discretionary spending).

So Stinking Tired...

Workout: 20 Minute Workout + Ab Jam

I got my workout in last night- both Cardio Party 2 and Crunch Fat Burning Yoga. I really like that yoga workout! I am hoping that increasing my flexibility will help take stress off my knees. I have heard critiques that say there are too many Down Dogs in this yoga workout, but I don't mind- I am trying really hard to make Down Dog my friend!

But today- Oh, man! I was so stinking tired all day! It was fast Sunday, so I didn't eat breakfast or lunch and I was so cranky all afternoon! And then my 2 year old didn't nap and was keyed up all evening! Not my best day. Now I've got to go work out before we start rolling...

Never Too Late...

Yesterday was also a 'rest day'. But now I am officially 'slipping'. When I got home from work, I just wanted to watch Project Runway on my DVR and go to bed. But after it was over, I knew that in order to meet my goals for this week I had to workout. So I went in the garage and pushed play at 11:15 in the evening.

Chalene mentions during Ab Jam that it is "never too late to get the abs of your dreams" and I almost laughed out loud. Yes, never too late.

I finished my workout shortly after midnight, sweaty and happy and proud of myself.

Don't Just Lean Side to side... CRUNCH side to side!

Workout: 20 Minute + Ab Jam

My no sweets challenge ends on Wednesday. I am really glad I've been doing it. Knowing that I can still have sweets, just not this week, has helped strengthen my restraint. I've never seen the wisdom in a 'cheat day' before, but I think that if you were working hard the rest of the week you wouldn't want to throw it all away. You'd be pretty conservative on your 'cheat day'.

My oatmeal and blueberries breakfast didn't quite do the trick this morning and I became hungry at work around 9:30 am. I decided on a bag of nuts instead of a bag of candy, even though it was more points, but still managed to work it in to my points for the day. I ended up over 5 after my workout, which is just fine considering the 35 weekly points WW gives you.

I had a tough workout with the gloves tonight- my biceps were really sore from my yoga session yesterday. I need to wear my heart rate monitor and compare calorie burns with and without the gloves.

Leave The Singing To Holly

Workout: 20 Minute + Ab Jam

I only went over by four points today! It would help if I didn't blow 17 points at Taco Bell! But I came home from work (I worked late tonight), worked out and went to bed without snacking.

Used the gloves again tonight. They really change the dynamic. There is no 'active recovery' with those things. And by the finale my speedbags were really hurting. I also use them for the first (standing) half of Ab Jam and find they help me isolate my abs.
