70 Workouts Down!

Blogdate: 10/18

Workout: Cardio Party Remix + 3T

Yesterday I was kinda feeling like, what is the point of this last week- it's not like I can lose much weight in 6 days. But then I realized that this week has the opportunity to be the 'Exclamation Point' on this whole process, the entire 14 weeks. So this week is the 'Exclamation Point'!

Week 14 Schedule (Or, as Chalene says, This is how we're going out!):
Cardio Party Remix + 3T
Cardio Party 2
Cardio Party + Turbo Sculpt (ouch, that's a long one)
Cardio Party 3 + Yoga
Punch, Kick & Jam + Lower Body Jam
20 Minute Workout (we're ending where we started!)

Week 11 Down... Sort Of!

Well, Week 11 I kinda imploded. I think I just needed a break. I did get in 3 of my 6 scheduled workouts, but really, that could have gone better. It was nice to get a break, though. I'm not getting my reward for that week, but I'm not repeating it, either. ONWARD to WEEK 12!

Schedule:

Kickin' Core
Cardio Party Remix + Booty Sculpt
Punch, Kick & Jam + Ab Jam Standing
Fat Blaster + 3T
Cardio Party 2 + Ab Jam
Total Body Blast
Yoga

In related news, you can ACTUALLY SEE DEFINITION IN MY BICEPS. Yes, I am yelling that.

Welcome to Riptoberfest!

Workout: Cardio Party 3

Wow- I got a really good sweat on tonight! One of those workouts where you finish feeling way more energized than when you started.

I am going to do the Rip You Up Rotation for another 4 weeks to get ready for my cruise (26 days and counting!). This week's rotation:

Cardio Party 3
3T + Ab Jam
Punch, Kick & Jam
Fat Blaster (w/gloves) + Ab Jam
Cardio Party 2
CPR (w/gloves) + Booty Sculpt
Yoga

Week 9 Down!

Blogdate: 9/19

Workout: Fat Blaster + Lower Body Jam + Yoga

... and you thought I wasn't going to do it!

I did do one of the shorter yoga workouts- a Yoga Zone for flexibility.

Next week, I am going to double up my workouts early on so I can take a day off and play video games all evening. I am also going to save up my WPA and eat a whole freaking jug of red vines. Awesome.

NSV tonight- the pants I am wearing (my current favorite) keep slipping down! They've never done that before.

ALSO The Biggest Loser starts this week! Hooray!

Week 10 Schedule (Week 4 Rip You Up):
Cardio Party 2
Fat Blaster + 3T
20 Minute Workout
Cardio Party 1 + Turbo Sculpt
Cardio Party 3
Punch, Kick & Jam + Lower Body Jam
Yoga

Wow- this week is brutal (with the exception of just the 20 minute workout on Wednesday- which will practically be a rest day after three weeks of Rip You Up). I gotta dig deep! After this week I am going back to 5 days Turbo and 1 day Yoga- I had better balance in my life then.

8 Weeks Down!

Blogdate: 9/12

Workout: Ten Minute Solution: Yoga

Ten Minute Solution Yoga is included in the Instant Cue on Netflix so I thought I would give it a try. I have nothing but good things to say about it! Well cued, challenging (but not intimidatingly so for an experienced beginner like me) and low on the spirituality (less spiritual than Sara Ivanhoe, and she really isn't) but still uses the English names (and a lot of the sanskrit). It is broken into 5 ten minute segments so you can customize it or do the whole 50 minute thing like I did tonight. Loved it!

8 Weeks down! I weigh in tomorrow. I have to admit, I have peeked, like a week ago. I am pleased. Reasonably pleased, not Biggest Loser pleased.

Next Week's Schedule (Rip You Up Rotation Week 3):
Cardio Party Remix + Fat Blaster
Punch Kick and Jam + Booty Sculpt
Cardio Party 1
Turbo Sculpt + Ab Jam
Cardio Party 3
Fat Blaster + Lower Body Jam
Yoga

Week 7 Down!

Blogdate: 9/5

Workout: Yoga (Yoga Zone Evening Stress Relief for Beginners)

Yay! 7 Weeks down! I am so amazed at what I have been able to accomplish and I am half way to my 14 week goal!

After 6 straight days I did not feel like doing a full yoga class today. I'm sure I really needed it, though. I did one of my 20 minute Yoga Zone workouts instead and it felt really really great.

A few years ago, when I was just starting my yoga practice (such as it is), I bought a boxed set of yoga workouts off Overstock.com from Yoga Zone. This set contains 6 discs of 2 20 minute workouts each- all with a different focus: Power Yoga, Stress Relief, Flexibility, Core, Fat Burning & Total Body Conditioning. I was looking for something to supplement my cardio and strength multiple times a week that I wouldn't need to spend 40-60 minutes doing. This set fit the bill nicely.

These workouts- not quite the right word when discussing yoga- are so well done and non-intimidating. Even though they lean on the spiritual side if you are not careful they will make you a believer. They are beginner to beginner-intermediate in level, and modifications are shown to make them harder or easier. A solid introduction to yoga.

BTW- A lot of these are available streaming on Hulu! Hooray! Try them out...

Week 8 Schedule (week 2 Rip You Up Rotation):
Cardio Party 1 + Ab Jam Floor
Booty Sculpt + Cardio Party Remix
Punch, Kick & Jam + Standing Ab Jam
Fat Blaster + 3T
Lower Body Jam + 20 Minute
Cardio Party 2 or Kicken Core + Ab Jam (Maybe Total Body Blast instead?)
Yoga

BTW- Look at the cute colored dry-erase markers my husband bought me! Talk about support!

Rip You Up Rotation Week 1: Kick Off!

Having completed Turbo Jam beginner and advanced rotations I am looking for a new challenge. Since I don't have the dough for Turbo Fire just yet I'll be doing the Turbo Jam Rip You Up Rotation for the next 4 weeks. Here is my schedule for the coming week:

1. Cardio Party 3
2. 3T + Ab Jam
3. Punch, Kick and Jam
4. Fat Blaster + Ab Jam
5. Cardio Party 2
6. Booty Sculpt + Cardio Party Remix
7. Yoga

I was tempted to leave off Yoga, but I give it a lot of credit in keeping my knees healthy for the last six weeks- I have noticed a difference in my flexibility and I am sure that is helping.

I also am going to transition myself to AM workouts this month- I think it will make me a better wife if I actually spend time with my husband in the evenings instead of secluding myself in the garage, I mean, gym.

Five Weeks Down!

Blogdate: 8/22

Workout: Yoga

So irritated during my workout tonight. I did PiYo 8, off of one of the Fan V0lumes. Now, the fan volumes are the workouts created for the instructors to use in memorizing the choreography for their PiYo classes. I was warned that they would be advanced. I am cool with that- I can modify and I am mature enough to do so and not try to compete with people. What I wasn't cool with was how things weren't really cued- there was a voice over that mentioned things, but wasn't really cueing very closely.

So breathing isn't stressed- they just say, "be sure you are breathing". No inhale here, exhale here. And then when you are upside down, bending over or facing the opposite way from the screen (which happens occasionally in yoga) sometimes the cueing just goes away, or talks about things that are not the move you are doing right now. the form you need to have or what your breath should be doing.

This is the type of DVD that you would have to have memorized before you could feel successful attempting the workout- not really something for everyday exercisers, advanced or otherwise. I am just not sure how useful this whole thing is going to be.

By the time final relaxation came around I actually swore with excitement because I was just so tired of it. It reminded me a lot of the first Camp Turbo when someone taught a PiYo class. It was fast, loud, dark and I couldn't see the friggin' stage because I was upside down and there were tons of people everywhere who also had no clue what they were doing. Most people around me walked out well before it was over. You'd think then I would have been able to see the stage but it was still dark and I was still upside down.

ANYWAY...

By the end of my workout last night I had a headache and I was pissed. How's that for Final Relaxation?

Next week's schedule: (modified Advanced week 6)

Cardio Party 1
Total Body Blast
Kickin' Core
Turbo Sculpt + Ab Jam
Cardio Party 2

I just turn my brain off when I do Ab Jam now. I would love to get another Ab routine. Maybe one from Turbo Fire or Chalean Extreme. I am accepting donations.

4 Weeks Down!

Blogdate: 8/15

Workout: Total Body Blast

Having never done TBB before (seriously, never) there were a lot of moves that were unfamiliar to me. The workout is framed into high intensity blasts alternating legs, core, cardio, etc in about 4-5 minute intervals. I wonder if this workout is a direct progenitor of Turbo Fire?

I can't help but wonder what will be really really sore tomorrow.

ANYWAYS- 4 Weeks Down! That's 20 Workouts! What do I notice that is different?

* Stamina- I could not do 30 minutes of cardio without needing a break to catch my breath 4 weeks ago- now I am good to go the full 60 on TBB!

* Strength- When you first start Turbo and you are told to 'isolate x muscle' it is difficult to even FIND that muscle! At this point they have enough strength to isolate them. I also can feel more definition in my arms and obliques- my obliques feel noticeably leaner.

* Fit- I am fitting into my size 10 jeans and the 12s are getting too loose to wear. Yay! Other things that used to, um, rub together, are not doing so any longer.

Tomorrow is the big weigh in- I am nervous. I hope it isn't de-motivating either way! I am hoping to see 5 pounds dropped. Of the 4 weeks, I had 2 weeks of eating really well and two so-so weeks or I'd expect to see more.

Week 5 Schedule: (modified advanced week 3)
Punch, Kick & Jam
3T + Ab Jam
CPR
Booty Sculpt + Ab Jam
Cardio Party 3
Yoga

3 Weeks Down!

I am so curious to weigh in- I am really looking forward to next Monday!

Week 4 Schedule (modified Advanced Wk 2):
Kickin Core
Turbo Sculpt + Ab Jam
CP1
Total Body Blast
CP 2

2 Weeks Down!

Hooray! Two weeks down! I really feel like my jeans are fitting looser. I am still waiting for this whole 'extra energy' thing to kick in. Right now I'm just tired and cranky.

This week, I am doing a modified Beginner Week 4 schedule:
Cardio Party 3
Turbo Sculpt + Ab Jam
Cardio Party Remix
3T + Ab Jam
Punch Kick and Jam
Yoga

I am really excited about yoga this week because we are getting a Lululemon showroom (it opens in about 2 weeks) and they are hosting a Salutation Nation in a nearby park this Saturday. There are going to be thousands of people all over the country doing yoga outside this weekend, and perhaps a modest amount here in Albuquerque!

Don't Just Lean Side to side... CRUNCH side to side!

Blogdate: 7/26

Workout: 20 Minute + Ab Jam

My no sweets challenge ends on Wednesday. I am really glad I've been doing it. Knowing that I can still have sweets, just not this week, has helped strengthen my restraint. I've never seen the wisdom in a 'cheat day' before, but I think that if you were working hard the rest of the week you wouldn't want to throw it all away. You'd be pretty conservative on your 'cheat day'.

My oatmeal and blueberries breakfast didn't quite do the trick this morning and I became hungry at work around 9:30 am. I decided on a bag of nuts instead of a bag of candy, even though it was more points, but still managed to work it in to my points for the day. I ended up over 5 after my workout, which is just fine considering the 35 weekly points WW gives you.

I had a tough workout with the gloves tonight- my biceps were really sore from my yoga session yesterday. I need to wear my heart rate monitor and compare calorie burns with and without the gloves.

This week's workouts : (My week 2 is a modified beginner week 3 from the Turbo Jam rotation)
20 Minute + Ab Jam
Cardio Party 1
Turbo Sculpt + Ab Jam
Cardio Party 2
20 Minute + Ab Jam
Yoga

The Roof, The Roof...

Blogdate: 7/19

Workout: 20 Minute Workout

I love this workout! The music is inspiring- especially 'The Roof is on Fire' as the finale! The only drawback (although, it could be a plus..) is that it is so short. In the workout Chalene says it is going to be "The best 20 minutes of your day" and today it really was. I felt great!

My diet for the day, however, was less inspired. I was feeling down because my family has just left after visiting for 2 weeks. Let's just say my sweet tooth got the best of me.

I also played Wii Cheer 2 for about an hour. That is a fun game! If you have a dance background you can pick up the routines and perform them along with the cheerleaders (I know- I almost titled this blog 'Old, Fat Cheerleader' since 'Slow, Fat Triathlete' was taken!).

This week's workouts: (I am doing a modified week 2 beginner rotation)
20 Minute
20 Minute + Ab Jam
Cardio Party 1
20 Minute + Ab Jam
Cardio Party Remix
Yoga
